It is estimated that every year, more than 400,000 people of 200 different nationalities attend the festival. That’s because the festival we’re talking about is known for taking year after year, artists with high ratings worldwide.

The first edition of the festival took place on August 14, 2005. In it the headliners were Armin van Buuren, David Guetta and Coone, among others. Between 2007 and 2013 the organizers of the festival were incorporating improvements. In 2009, they began to put a slogan to each edition. In 2010, the edition was a leap to fame for the creation of the camping area, better known as DreamVille. In the 2011 edition, the festival lasted 3 days and was already known worldwide.

While the editions between 2009 and 2016 were successful, it was the 2017 edition that positioned Tomorrowland as the best electronic music festival in the world. Let’s talk about what really matters, what is lived inside Tomorrowland? In those days your body and your mind move to live in another world, a world where you can only dance, enjoy music and meet new people, nothing else matters! Tomorrowland is clear, wants to make you spend the best weekend of your life and therefore, its motto is: “Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever.”

Echoing its name, Tomorrowland is the “land of tomorrow” and that is why the stages and the whole atmosphere are decorated to make it look like you are in a magical world, full of fantasy.

The public of Tomorrowland not only lives of the EDM sound, if you dare to take a walk by the environs of the enclosure, you will find in your step sounds of different subgenres within the electronic music. People make the mistake of not moving from the main stage during the 3 days and yes, there is life beyond the main stage! Tomorrowland has more than 16 stages and although it is clear that the main stage has the best decoration (games of lights, lasers, waterfalls, trees of 100 meters high …), you can not leave without visiting other stages. Two of those that you can’t forget are: “Rave the Cave”, which is a small cabin inside a cave and “The Rose Garden”, where you can find a fire-breathing dragon.

In addition, as we have mentioned before, the festival consists of a campsite on the outskirts of the festival area, known as DreamVille. DreamVille offers different comforts: a place to set up your own tent, an easy tent, relax rooms, VIP cabins or a mansion for your friends’ group. The festival suits the pocket of everyone and has options for all tastes!

I just have to talk about food, something that is essential if you want to have enough strength to endure hours and hours of dancing. Also, who doesn’t like to eat? Well, food is a matter that you shouldn’t worry about, Tomorrowland is responsible for keeping your hunger sated. For this, it has food stalls and restaurants where you can taste the flavors of different corners of the world. You can also bring your own food and drink to the camp. But since Tomorrowland is a festival without cash, you will have to buy the official chips before entering the gourmet zone.

Well, after hearing all this, are you still thinking about going to the Tomorrowland festival? I have it clear, I don’t have to die without having gone, even once in my life. Hope to see you there!!

The WCD Universe: Do you dare to enter?

The World Club Dome festival in Frankfurt am Main.

One of the best weekends of my life. This is how I would describe the days I lived at the World Club Dome in Frankfurt in June.

Source: http://nexussounds.home.blog

I did not know about the existence of this festival until I arrived here, to Mainz. I was not aware of what I was missing because I did not listen to techno music. But yes, it was only a year of Erasmus in Germany, the most important European country of techno music, to discover a musical style that I never thought I could like and that is undoubtedly what I get best from my Erasmus experience.

Once in this environment and after enjoying many techno parties during the winter semester, arrived the summer and with it, the incredible and unique World Club Dome festival in Frankfurt.

After this brief introduction about my experience with techno music, I will go on to tell what really matters, what is the World Club Dome Universe? Are you ready to get in the world of EDM and techno music? Come with me and let me show you the secrets of the best festival I’ve ever been in.

The BigCityBeats World Club Dome, or better known as WCD for short, is a festival of electronic dance music, which takes place annually, at the end of May or at the beginning of June, at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt am Main. The festival is organized by the BigCityBeats radio station.

The first festival took place on June 9, 2013 with the name of “BigCityBeats World Music Dome”. In addition to the main stage set up in the stadium, there were another 10 micro-stages of different musical genres.

After their great success, they continued making new editions that brought improvements of all kinds: better conditions, more DJs and the key to everything, the creation of new stages of different musical styles to attract more people year after year. In its first edition (2013) had 25,000 visitors and in just 7 years have reached 180,000 visitors.

From 7 to 9 June 2019, the seventh edition of the WCD was held under the name “World Club Dome Space Edition” and the organizers had the cooperation of the European Space Agency (ESA). The entire festival, as well as all stages, were set in the outer space and the ESA. The main stage of the stadium, had a rocket as decoration.

Something very important to emphasize is the great variety of musical styles (all within the electronic music global style) that you can listen to in the WCD. Since its first edition, the festival has counted every year with more than 10 stages of different genres.

The main stage is always in the stadium and there is the industrial music, better known as EDM. During its 7 editions, the WCD has had a line-up full of DJs known worldwide for creating songs that have become number one of all the EDM music lists. Yes, we talk about artists with a massive audience of people like David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Robin Schulz, Clean Bandit, Jason Derulo, Lost Frequencies, Hardwell and they came to count in 2015 with the currently dead Avicii as headliner.

Well, now comes the best. After the success of the 2015 edition with Avicii as headliner, 3 days of festival and with the stages of Space Ibiza and Neonsplash as hosts of the party, in the 2016 edition the WCD decided to create, next to the enclosure of the festival, an area with swimming pool and camping.

With the appearance of the pool area arrived the long-awaited and expected Pool Sessions and with them the sound of techno music. They started in 2016 with lesser-known artists and with Solomun and Sven Väth as headliners of techno. The Pool Sessions of 2017 and 2018 only confirmed the success for the WCD because of the introduction of techno music at the festival.

And 2019 arrived, the year that the WCD will remember for leaving without words to each and every one of the techno lovers who had the opportunity to enjoy the Pool Sessions. And is that, the organizers of the festival got the best techno line-up ever seen in any previous edition. They had the best techno DJs of the moment: Nina Kraviz, Boris Brejcha, Len Faki, Marco Faraone, Paul Kalkbrenner, Pleasurekraft, Sidney Spaeth, Sven Väth and many more.

We must highlight something very important, the WCD had the brilliant idea of giving their fans the option to choose what kind of music they wanted to dance during the days that the festival lasted. That’s why since the creation of Pool Sessions, you can buy different ticket options, depending on the style of music you want to dance.

As you can see, I was not lying when I said that I had the best weekend of my life. This year I was one of the lucky ones who could enjoy the WCD Pool Sessions; all accompanied by the hand of great techno artists, DJs that I dreamed of seeing them play once in my life and that Germany has given me the opportunity to enjoy.

Thanks Germany for being the European city of techno music and thanks to my friends, my techno-squad, for introducing me to this madness and teaching me to enjoy what I get best from this Erasmus: THE TECHNO MUSIC!

I’m already counting the days for the eighth edition. Are you still thinking about to come? You can’t miss the WCD Frankfurt 2020. I will be there, and you? I hope to see you there!!

When Daft Punk changed live performances forever at Coachella 2006

You have probably already heard about Daft Punk, I mean, who has not danced to their catchy tune “Get Lucky”? Daft Punk is an electronic music duo, famous for wearing their astonishing robot helmets.

However, what you might did not know is that they do not appear very often in public. Their last appearances have been in the Grammy’s (2008, 2014 and 2017) and their last tour was in 2007.

Alive 2007 was the name of the last Daft Punk tour , performing in concert halls and festivals around the world. The tour came along with an album recorded live with the same name. But before the success of the tour and the album, which became an instant classic for group fans, the French duo had a big challenge ahead of themselves.

In 2005 Daft Punk had released their album ‘Human After All’ that had been a relative failure and many critics were questioning whether they had reached a peak in their career. Not long after they were presented with an opportunity that changed live performances since. They were offered to play in Coachella 2006, the world-famous music festival celebrated in Indio, California. The band accepted but requested a large sum of the money up-front to prepare the show. They were working on something special.

On Saturday, April 29, 2006, Daft Punk appeared on Sahara Tent stage after some delays. When the show started the public was able to see a gigantic structure in form of a pyramid that was lightened up with thousands of LED’s that combined lights and video. This was complimented with a medley that was a journey through their whole discography.

It was revolutionary at that time, now we might be used to those kind of performances, especially in the EDM genre, but at the time it was not common the use of LED’s and such big structures.

The concert was such a success that the stage could only hold 100,000 people and there where 400,000. Everybody present was texting all their friends to come and see the groundbreaking moment. Daft Punk had proved once more that they were not a passing fad, the robots were here to stay.
