Today’s story is one of those that is never forgotten. This is the story of the biggest festival in the world that we all dream to going at least once in a lifetime. Logically I am talking about the Rio de Janeiro’s carnival in Brazil.
I already tell you that this is crazy, let’s start from the beginning. But before everything, let me tell you about this special city among mountains. Indeed, this city is a city between mountains and that is what makes it so special.
Yes, it has many beaches that are the main tourist attraction, but they are not just beaches, they are beaches between mountains. There the normal thing is that shines a radiant sun and a humidity able to leave ironing to anyone, by the way, here the sport is very present and not only by the sculptural bodies of the majority, blessed genes, but because every few meters there are stations of free exercise.

What a tourist can do is to enjoy at the maximum some beaches, of which I will speak on another day because there is much to say about them, ah and renting a public bike is cheaper than you could think. Speaking a bit about the money, there the currency is the Brazilian Real, four reales would come to be one euro more or less. For me, coming from Spain, it seems a cheap country, although in the rest of the Latin American countries at least Rio de Janeiro is quite expensive.
And now, let’s go back to the carnival. For almost a month, many cities in Brazil are paralyzed, but if there is one that lives the carnal in a big way that is without a doubt Rio de Janeiro. Day and night the blocos follow each other, which are marches in the street, organized or not and are always an explosion of joy, music and improvisation. It is known where and when they start but nobody knows where they will end, neither when, nor how. Improvisation and fun to power!
During the party one goes like crazy during the whole day, at night and at dawn, and although all the blocos are different there are some so, soo, soooo missives that for someone who is not Brazilian it ends up being even too much.
During the days of carnival, the city is a sea of people in the streets, in the beach and in the jewel in the crown, does anyone guess what I mean? Well, I do mean the Sambódromo del Marqués de Sapucía. With its imposing 550 meters long, this temple of samba is integrated by the best schools in Rio. For an hour, each samba school parades giving the best of himself with up to six floats and a number of people who could be counted by thousands in each school, a real madness!

What makes this event great is the joy, because carnival is joy. During five days of celebration, millions of people take to the streets to the party driven by the rhythm of the samba and infected by the exuberant beauty of a city in the middle of a generous nature of beaches and mountains, where the sun shines on the rich vegetation to give the city a tropical climate.
The carnival is for everyone and at least for those five days, the differences do not matter. There are no rich or poor, there is no more than a skin tone, no religions (although the festival began with a Christian culture) or sexual orientations. And that’s where the beauty of the event resides from my point of view. A united society constituted, for the most part, by a suffered people and has the chance once a year to download energy and share joy.
Undoubtedly, it is a unique experience that, ironically, is repeated every year, but who goes there is no other pleasure in the mouth but the desire to be able to go through this experience again and again. What do you say? Do you dare?
