Before talking
about the festival, we must understand that South Africa, a country of
incredible natural wealth, is known for the beauty and contrast of its
different regions.
It is a very diverse country. This diversity is found in varieties of local
languages, different arts and cultures.
This is also true for festivals in South Africa.
You can find anything from the richness of the desert to the cultural exhibitions of the cities or the music festival. These South African festivals are worth a visit!
2 nd : Johannesburg or Joburg

More precisely, Johannesburg, also known as the “Golden City”, is a metropolis of South Africa and is considered the economic capital of the country.
Come visit the richest city in all Africa. It is also home to an incomparable cultural life and a unique atmosphere in the world.
Johannesburg is a beautiful modern city with a rich historical heritage that attracts many visitors from all over the world.
3 rd : Festival Afropunk
AFROPUNK it’s a mixture of two words, “Afro” & “Punk”.
The word Afro is the abbreviation of African. This term can be used both to talk about people from this continent with a variety of complexions, accents, but also to talk about very rhythmic music.
Moreover, Punk is a musical genre derived from rock, appeared in the mid-1970s and associated with the punk movement. It was a protest movement grouping young people who display provocative signs (hairstyles, piercing, and style) by derision towards the social order.
AFROPUNK can be defined as a culture created by collective action from several music styles.

It’s a great place, with an open and airy space where you can have fun, make a new reality, live your life as you please, while giving meaning to the world around you. This event allows us to open our curiosity.

This world music festival will not arrive in Johannesburg until five months later, but thanks to the experience of last year and Afropunk’s expansion on the African continent and around the world; we can estimate that there will be around 12,000 people from Africa and around the world. They are expected to gather starting Dec. 30th at the city’s Constitution Hill for a weekend of performances by many artists like: Solange – Miguel –Goldlink – Nao –Busiswa – Distruction Boyz –Rico Nasty – Sho Madjozi – Morena Leraba – Darkie Fiction –TCIYF –Umlilo –DBN GOGO –Lelowhatsgood –Fif_laaa – Masego.

Johannesburg is the latest locale for Afropunk, which debuted a twelve years ago in Brooklyn and has since expanded to Paris, Atlanta and London. “We go where we have community and we go where people want us,” says festival co-founder Jocelyn Cooper. “We’ve wanted to be on the continent, we love the culture in South Africa and we have a lot of contributors to our site who are there.” The theme this year is ‘We the people’ a phrase at the beginning of both the US and South African constitutions.
